Moya Matcha is a brand of authentic Japanese organic matcha grown in the Uji region of Kyoto Prefecture, known for the cultivation of highest quality green tea for over 800 years. The Uji region is famous for its fertile soils and clean water. The green tea plants there have ideal conditions for growth thanks to hills providing good sunlight, frequent mists that protect delicate leaves from frost and high amounts of rainfall.

Moya Matcha is meticulously cultivated and harvested on small family-owned organic tea fields. It is then processed locally to assure the quality of freshness to all our grades. Tea leaves are kept in special storage facilities in sub-zero temperatures before they are ground to tea powder. packaged hermetically and dispatched from Japan. This helps preserve all the qualities of the tea leaf and maintain high levels of minerals and antioxidants.

Traditional bamboo whisk or “chasen” is an indispensable tool of the Japanese matcha tea ceremony. The fine, handmade prongs are carved out in a single piece of bamboo by craftsmen whose skills are past on from generation to generation. When using a chasen to whisk matcha it is best to keep a loose and relaxed wrist and make rapid zigzag motions in the shape of letter “W” or “M” – this helps to give matcha the ideal frothy texture.


Handmade matcha bowl from fireclay with glaze finishing. It is shaped according to centuries’ old Japanese tradition from Kyoto adapted by a small ceramic studio in Cracow in collaboration with Moya Matcha. Each piece of stoneware is unique with its own natural and subtle variation. It is fired at a very high temperature providing safety and durability. Matchawan is the traditional bowl used in the Japanese tea ceremony and makes matcha preparation very easy. When whisking matcha with a bamboo whisk (chasen) the tall vertical walls of the matchawan help to prevent the water from spilling. The broad bottom of the bowl makes it easy to whisk the powder smoothly inside and quickly obtain the perfect froth on the surface.
